vExpert 2020 Award

I cannot begin to tell you how honoured I am to have been awarded vExpert 2020. This has been my first application as I had never thought I’d be successful in the past.

But with thanks to speaking to Gareth Edwards (VirtualisedFruit) at the vMUG UserCon in Leicester, he gave me the motivation I needed to begin my blog and to apply.

For those of you still considering applying to be a vExpert, my advice is ‘just apply’. And to give you some things to think about:

  • Your day to day VMware dealings much seem ‘meh’ to you. But to someone else, they could be very exciting.
  • If you think you’ve done something cool… shout about it.
  • You don’t have to be a blogger or a public speaker. There are many ways to become a vExpert… Community Session, vMTN Forums, Podcasts, vMUGs, VMware Insider Feedback. The list goes on. Anything whereby you are contributing to VMware is a consideration.

And last but not least… the worst that will happen is your application will be rejected. So now what? Carry on and try again!

Why Bother?
